Ecuador is located in the northwest corner of South America,between Colombia & Peru. Named after the equator, it is one of the smallest countries in South America. The estimated population of Ecuador as of 2016 was around 16,400,000.
There is great variety in the climate, largely determined by altitude. It is mild year-round in the mountain valleys, with a humid subtropical climate in coastal areas and rainforest in lowlands. Puerto Cayo boasts temperatures between 60 and 90 degrees fahrenheit.
Ecuador has four very different landscapes: Amazon Rainforest, Andes Mountains, beaches, and the Galapagos Islands.
